Professional Qualifications and Organizations

Here you can find access to different aid and assistance organizations.

Professionals can carry out all the necessary procedures related to their professional field, electronically and remotely. Professional colleges offer their services at a distance through their own “one-stop shops”, or unique points of contact. Access the professional school that corresponds to you through this Single Window.

Contact details are also provided for associations and assistance organisations that can provide technical assistance, both for service providers and for recipients.

Finally, access to the different sectoral registers is offered in a single point, which can be consulted by the different competent authorities for the exercise of their supervisory and control powers.

In the side menu you have the different options.

National Assistance Centre professional recognition

A regulated profession is the activity or set of professional activities for which access or exercise is required to be in possession of certain professional qualifications.

If you are going to settle in Spain to pursue a regulated profession, you must apply for recognition of your professional qualifications, i.e. qualifications accredited by a training degree, by a certificate of proficiency, and/or by a formally recognised professional experience. The recognition of your professional qualifications by the competent Spanish authority will allow you to exercise your profession in Spain with the same rights as Spanish nationals.

On the other hand, if you are going to exercise this profession on a temporary or occasional basis, without establishing yourself in the national territory, you must inform the competent Spanish authority of the service you intend to perform by submitting a written declaration. The presentation of this declaration will allow you to access the activity or exercise this activity throughout the Spanish territory.

The National Assistance Center informs citizens about how they can obtain recognition of their professional qualifications.

You can contact them with:

Catalogue of regulated professions

Regulated professions can be different between EU countries. Check whether you need the recognition of your professional qualification by consulting the database of regulated professions made available by the European Commission.

In the event that it does not appear in the database, access to the profession may be free and you do not have to request the recognition of your professional qualifications, being able to start exercising your profession in Spain under the same conditions as nationals.

If you need more information about your profession, you can contact the National Assistance Centre for the Recognition of Professional Qualifications, which can help you understand the rules applicable to you.

Recognition of professional qualifications

The procedures for applying for professional recognition of professional qualifications obtained in another EU Member State may vary slightly depending on the profession concerned. Some examples are as follows:

Statement prior to the temporary exercise

In the event that you travel to Spanish territory to exercise, temporarily or occasionally, a regulated profession, you do not have to request the recognition of your qualifications but, before the first trip, you will usually have to report the service you intend to perform by submitting a written statement to the competent Spanish authority.

This declaration must be renewed annually if you intend to continue the provision of services temporarily or occasionally in Spain.

For more information, please contact the National Assistance Center.

The European Professional Card (EPC) is an electronic procedure for requesting recognition of professional qualifications in an EU Member State other than the one in which they were obtained.

SOLVIT may assist in resolving matters relating to:

  • Professional recognition
  • Freedom of movement and residence
  • Social security (health care, unemployment)
  • Vehicles and driving licences
  • VAT refunds.
  • Free access to product markets
  • Freedom of establishment and freedom to provide services

SOLVIT cannot act on:

  • Matters Already in the Courts
  • Compensation for damages and losses
  • Problems between companies
  • Rights of consumers

In Spain, the SOLVIT center is in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (solvit@maec.es).
